MOUNTAINS IN THE SUN

From the Rax to the "Bucklige Welt"

About

The "Sonnenberge" region in the south of Lower Austria are an attractive destination for people seeking relaxation, nature lovers and mountain sportsmen and women.

But what is so unique about snow mountains, transitional mountains and the "Bucklige Welt"? Why is this region so popular?

There are no extremes here, no three-thousand-meter mountains, no permanent ice, nothing for the Book of Records.

And yet this piece of land is something special: At the boundary between Lower Austria and Styria, the Pannonian Plan and the foothills of the Alps meet.

There are diverse natural landscapes with an undreamed-of wealth of plants and animals in the smallest of areas. This intermediary role between plain and high mountains gives the "Sonnenberge" their very special charm.

The Universum documentary presents the fascinating region and its flora and fauna over the course of a year. For this, the film team spent one and half years in the "Sonnenberge" region.
